Easy to release.

One L23 works with either #2 or #3 cable. The cable feeds in through the entry hole and back through the opposite side to make the loop.

To release, push the Release Tabs forward. When cable is looped around round duct, the resulting angle shall not exceed 60°.

Reduction factors

Multiply the assembly rating by the factor shown, then round down to the nearest 5 lbs. Maximum 60° from vertical. The reduction is taken on the assembly, not on the device rating alone. Multipliers 1.000, 0.966, 0.866, 0.707, 0.500 (PMG-1840 Table 2).

Sizing

How to determine the cable lengths required

SSF stock lengths are 6′, 12′, 20′ and 35′. The table value is the smallest stock length that satisfies the calculated required cable length for the given duct diameter and drop length. Custom lengths are available.

Offset is the distance from the top of the duct to the L23, and equals one half of the duct diameter. A 3″ minimum tail is required after the noose returns through the device. Cable diameter is selected based on weight per linear foot of ductwork and hanger spacing.

The cable runs down one drop, under the duct and back up the other, so a 3″ tail is required at each L23, two tails in total. An asterisk means the requirement exceeds the 35′ stock length: order a custom length at the value shown, rounded up to the next whole foot.

Before you install

Limits that apply on every job

Follow capacity limits

Never overload SSF Cable Assemblies. Refer to the Technical Data Sheets for complete assembly capacities.

Take angle reductions

Assemblies not installed vertically take the published angle reduction, applied to the assembly rating. When cable is looped around round duct, the resulting angle shall not exceed 60°. Y-Accessories and Y-Assemblies may not be installed at angles greater than 60°.

Never join two cables

Never join 2 cables into a single device. Voids engineering and warranty.

Do not use for lifting

Static overhead support only. Not for lifting, rigging, or fall protection.

Dry indoor use only

Not for wet, chlorinated, or otherwise corrosive environments. Use SSF cable only; plastic-coated and third-party cables are not permitted with SSF devices.

Do not paint cables. Keep cables clean.

Install in final position before painting. Devices cannot be adjusted after paint contacts the cable. Cables must be free of oil and fireproofing prior to device installation.
